KOKO Gig Watch
Lapsap BBQ Junksale @ Palate Pallete, Kuala Lumpur
Sunday 7th December 2008
Palate Palatte, for anyone who's off radar enough not to have discovered it yet is the hidden gem located in the backstreets of Bukit Bintang. Oozing street cool, distinction, class and originality, the venue offers a chilled-out retreat amidst the hustle and bustle of Changkat Bukit Bintang. With its post chic, laid-back decor, visitors are instantly treated to a festival of bright colours, great tunes and most importantly, the attraction of good times.
The bi-monthly Junksale is an experience not to be missed. Re-inventing the layout of the bar to comprise a half socialising area / half sales boutique, the event caters for all the needs of thirsty Sunday drinkers, post-punk culture vultures and trend-setting ladies looking for the latest punk chic designs at Bangkok backsteet prices. The inclusion of a scrumptious outside BBQ was one of the many treats in store for punters looking to make the most of the long-awaited 3 day weekend.
If the infectious atmosphere and warm reception from the establishment was not enough to satisfy the crowd, the extra inclusion of the hip KL deejay duo Lapsap to provide the tunes was reason alone to pay the joint a visit. Progressing from 80’s and 90’s indie anthems to electro chillout classics, Lapsap ensured the good vibes and funky buzz continued long into the late afternoon.
On the whole, Palate Palatte gave the impression of a super cool, underground safe haven, distinct from the generic bars that litter Bukit Bintang. Considering the healthy turnout today and the promise of future performances from the Lapsap boys, expect this venue to become the retreat of choice for KL urban dwellers with their finger on the pulse. I would especially like to thank Paul, one of the co-owners of the joint, for his hospitality and congratulate him and his colleagues on creating what is already one of the must essential hangouts in Kuala Lumpur.
