We thought we’d mark the end of the series known as Turns You Can Trust, by making an award. An award to mark their making of brilliant music since, well since we can remember. We may have older siblings that got there first, but once we were old enough to appreciate real art, we got there too. You mention his name to people and you get one of two responses; one being how much they have always loved his band, the other being, they hate everything he has ever done. The latter response is the hardest to understand due to the sheer amount of music he has made, and how different much of it sounds to what went before. When we were kids it was David Bowie who seemed to have cornered the market in the chameleon like pop star stakes.
Well, Dame Bowies output looks positively lazy in comparison, D.B. made about ten or eleven great albums, and has spent the years since reminding us all he is a mere mortal, and infallible, where as our fella has just released yet another thigh slappingly good album. He has been releasing an album and sometimes two a year since 1979, and we think twenty three of them are stone cold classics. The name of band? The Fall, the name of the man? Mark E Smith, the name of the new record? Your Future Our Clutter.
Ted in a Middle Class Revolt.
