It's that time of year when magazines have composite front covers of a mish mash of faces that make up the years best music stars. Yes folks the four grey long haired old men and the one mad woman with a full beard, that really run everything in what's left of the music industry, have spent the last three weeks locked in an airless rented office with dodgy brown carpets and instant coffee, making sure there are no surprises what so ever in the eventual lists published anywhere in anything. This odd mixture of last of the summer wine meets those people who never show on a guest list, even though they were first on it, have been especially busy this year. They have had the whole decade to turn ordinary come the end of it. So this week we are here to soothe your impending mood as you realise none of the acts you like will appear in any of the lists anywhere. By providing you with what we are calling the 'The Lord Cobden KOKO Golden List Of Joyous Acts' for no other reason than being fantastic and overlooked.
1, Of Montreal
2, Coil
3, Autechre
4, British Sea Power
5, Ash
6, Fugazi
7, Aphex Twin
8, Tool
9, Calexico
10, The Akron Family

AUDIO BULLYS PLAY TONIGHT
Audio Bullys make music for a Friday night in London when it's raining outside and raving inside. Don't make the mistake of not testing this theory when they play tonight at Club NME, it's already raining cats and dogs.

THE BAYS AT SOUNDCRASH
Last time the mighty Bays played KOKO, one of their skillful members turned to Ted at the side of stage and said, ''well that was probably the best gig we ever done", when you consider this pioneering outfit are all about the live show, that's quite a statement. We have a feeling this one might even better it.

CLUB NME XMAS PARTY
Club NME is not only the weekly phenomena we love and cherish it has also spawned three huge nights in the yearly calender. Halloween, The Xmas Party and New Years Eve. This is all because the night gives us the opportunity to give you the very best emerging bands from around the globe. The Xmas Party is no exception Delphic headline and they more than good enough to shake off the constant New Order references, with support from our favourite new band of 2009, Camden heroes Ou Est Le Swimming Pool. Happy Xmas.

The term 'marmite band' was invented for The Fall. You either love them and realise they are one of the most important British bands, easily up there with Joy Division, The Clash, Pink Floyd and The Sex Pistols, or you got cloth ears, ha ha. Of course they on brilliant form on Tuesday, but here's a story from when they played last time and Mark E Smith was unfortunately in what looked like a stolen NHS wheelchair, following a hip oepration. The promoter was worried that people wouldn't be able to see their hero, and suggested he sit in the chair on top of a riser. Mark E Smith's answer was "F**k off!, I'm not a Dalek"...
