As we find ourselves at the heart of awards season, we thought it was high time we got involved. So please be briefly upstanding for the first ever Golden Cobs. There is one main criteria for the Golden Cobs, namely there will only ever be two categories, which leaves more time for drinking and dancing.
Each recipient will receive a virtual, small gold plated six inch replica statue of Richard Cobden, the life size concrete version of which stands proudly covered in pigeon caca, on the island opposite Mornington Crescent tube station. So with out further ado, we give you our first award, which is for the best live band of 2008, snare drum roll please.... and the winner is, would you adam and eve it, it's a tie for first place between British Sea Power and Of Montreal.
Now our final award, and without doubt the most important of all. The best shoes of 2008, and the winner is Chromeo's stilettos, (both pairs)... Thank god that's all over for another year...
Ted listening to all the acceptance speeches, so you don't have to. |

NME BIG GIG
Our friends over at NME, who do know how to do awards properly, have put together one mother of a night out at the O2 Arena, (which, we are told is somewhere near Greenwich). The Cure, who will be the recipients of the god like genius award, headline and the rest of the bill is equally god like featuring, Franz Ferdinand, Crystal Castles and White Lies. The rather ace part is, you have the chance of winning tickets, see the competition section below for exactly how. |

PATRICK WOLF
Talking of shoes, Patrick will never let you down in the wardrobe department. A truly talented young man, Patrick Wolf is the antidote to over produced formulaic pop music. If you are yet to experience exactly how good he is live, put that right, now and buy a ticket. You know we're right.

GUILTY PLEASURES
Somethings were made for each other, Guilty Pleasures and KOKO. What's left to say about this discotastic phenomena? The crowd are still fantastically up for it, the stage shows are still off the hook, the passion of DJing still never strays into anything like knowing irony, and Sean Rowley is still for real and really meaning it (maaan), It's a combination of all these things that makes this night generate the kind of energy you only used to get at serious raves. This months theme is Circus, bring it on, crack the whip, what a feeling, love is in the air.
