Some things resonate stronger over time, a few excursions through murky waters, then a while later you can look back and add some kind of clarity. The first four albums by Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds were less like records and more like a personal discovery of your self, a kind of art / music tsunami that would inform and shape any one who was there at the time and was ripe for the information and the heady influence. The Bad Seeds crawled from the wreckage of The Birthday Party, who also made a life long impression on any one who stood before them. The first Bad Seeds album was called From Her To Eternity, track one of which was a cover of the Leonard Cohen song Avalanche, in normal circumstances this would amount to career suicide, but this was far from normal, this was a statement of intent, this record was the start of a journey that has now lasted over fourteen albums and countless life affirming live shows. In this time Nick has become, our very own Johnny Cash, our Bob Dylan, our poet, but more than anything else he has been our Nick Cave. But hey, don't just take a very elderly gentlemen's word for it, check out what these interesting people all have to say on the subject.

Ted, a bit of a fan.

ESKIMO JOE

Eskimo Joe are from Australia, Eskimos, or Esquimaux, are terms used to refer to people who inhabit the circumpolar region, excluding Scandinavia and most of Russia, but including the easternmost portions of Siberia. There are two main groups of Eskimos: the Inuit in northern Alaska, Canada and Greenland, and the Yupik of western Alaska and the Russian Far East. Nowhere near Australia then.

See them at KOKO on 8th April, for more details go here.

To win tickets email us how you'd sell ice to Eskimos.

VANESSA DE MATA

Vanessa De Mata is a Latin Grammy Award winning Brazilian singer with the kind of voice that can only be described as a gift. Come and see just how lush her vocal chords are, when she plays on 26th April.

There is a definite whiff of brylcream in the London air at the moment, quiffs and tattoo's can be found in the corners of various drinking dens across town, and who could be better as a current figurehead than Dublin born Imelda May? Glamourous, authentic and also gifted with a golden voice.
