Our plan was to bring you another little slice of everyday life from the streets of Camden Town. A small but perfectly formed piece of drama that only seems to happen in a big bad city. Worrying no material would present itself in time for the newsletter, we retired to our favourite place to buy a take away coffee. The Little Baker famed valhalla of the baked goods of the week, and usually a lush breeding ground for material. On entering we are immediately stunned to find no queue what so ever and thoughts turn to what band we could twist your melons with instead. Then from no where a woman with a face that can only be described as dinosaural appears a little too close for comfort acompanied by an even older man that looks like he may have been part of the first team to dig out the regent's canal. Whilst our coffee is being lovingly prepared it's not long before T Rex strikes up through gritted wooden teeth, "the only reason these people are being served first is because they got a job to go to, not like us, you can ignore us." We barely have time to gasp, as canal digger chips in with, "imagine coming in here to get a cup of tea, it's stupid!", we leave and just as Ted draws near them, gently says, "it's coffee, not tea".
Ted out amongst the rare breeds so you don't have to be. |

THE CHAPMAN FAMILY &
O. CHILDREN
It's got proto goth work out written all over it, not that goths ever work out, their make up would run and they might form muscles. The Chapman Family have been winning fans all over the country with their doomy but deep take on Joy Division and O Children are fast becoming one of the best bands in London.

PORTICO QUARTET
Being described as an indie band that plays post jazz, is not very exciting. Being described as a band that creates an inimitable sound that mixes inspiration from the likes of Steve Reich and Philip Glass with a very contemporary Jazz improvisation is way more closer to the mark. Portico Quartet usually play in unusual settings like churches and art spaces, so don't miss this chance to catch them on a big stage.
Very able support comes in the shape of Sweet Billy Pilgrim, the act that should of won the Mercury prize.

BAKED GOODS OF THE WEEK
A quick vote in the office, and this week it's the apple strudel, because as Alex said, "You know where you are with an apple strudel."
