Jefferson Airplane, formed in 1965, a great year to be doing anything musical, think Rolling Stones at their satanic best, think The Animals all over American TV, and the very first tape cassettes go on sale. The Beatles also played some over rated pop music at Shea Stadium, but that does not concern us here. The Airplane's singer was the very beautiful and very talented Grace Slick, who in her own words, "only got into music because it looked like fun and she could smoke pot all day" bless. She also got very close to dosing Nixon with a massive hit of LSD but was refused entry at the last minute to the party that she had been invited to at the Whitehouse. Their most famous song was easily the sublime 'somebody to love' but you also need to check out "White Rabbit" and "Mexico" for two of the best songs ever to emerge from the 1960's. Grace is alive and well, and currently earning a crust as an artist, one of her favourite things to paint are white rabbits, and for this we say Happy Easter bunnies Grace, we loves ya.

SOUNDCRASH
Barry Ashworth and Jason O'Bryan AKA the Dub Pistols have spent the best part of a decade at the forefront of Beats culture. From their early singles for Concrete Records to their genre defying 'Six Million Ways To Live' long player, from intimate venues to festival headline-sets, chewing up hip-hop, dub, techno, ska and punk and spitting them out in a renegade futuristic skank they have consistently defied categorisation and exceeded the highest of expectations. Currently riding high on the success of the recent 'Speakers and Tweeters' album (featuring Rodney P, who will be along tonight, and Terry Hall) we are thrilled to have them along to KOKO for a night of good vibes, good tuneage and good skanking.

LADYHAWKE PLAYS FOR CHARITY
Ladyhawke commented: “I am really pleased to be doing this Ambition Gig for TreeHouse, a charity which provides and campaigns for the specialised education that young people with autism need. Autism can affect pretty much every way in which a person interacts with the world – going to a gig like this would often be impossible. The sounds, the crowds of people, the bright lights - all this can be pretty traumatic for someone with autism. But with the right education early on, children can grow up to become independent, happy individuals and I think everyone deserves that opportunity.”.
