KOKO UK

02.05.09

So did you crawl at the weekend? Did you catch Madness on top of a London bus? Did you queue patiently in the warm evening sunshine to see Yeah Yeah Yeahs deliver the kind of live set that makes you go, 'hell yeah'? Did you see The Whip play the last song of their set at KOKO like their lives depended on dishing out good vibes to everyone in the house? Did you see Echo and Bunnymen clock on with a timeless set of crowd pleasing big tunes? Did it feel like for two days Camden had turned into Glastonbury? Did you have trouble booking a hotel ? Did you then have 'issues' locating said hotel? Did you by any chance catch a couple of posh boys from the band S.C.U.M. smashing up one of our dressing rooms, even though they wern't playing here? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then congratulations, you were one of the many thousands that made this year's Camden Crawl the best ever. Roll on the next one.

Ted, crawling from the wreckage...

HEXSTATIC RETURN TO KOKO

For the third installment of the now legendary Videocrash, London's biggest and best dedicated Audio-Visual event, those nice chaps at Soundcrash have lined up a truly ground-breaking affair, with the undeniable kings Hexstatic and Northern Upstarts The Nextmen as well as some of the finest up-and coming talent in this, the coolest up-and-coming night-club experience. Having absolutley killed it at the previous 2 Videocrash nights Hexstatic was an obvious choice to invite back to KOKO, and in looking for an act to match up to them The Nextmenwere a clear option, with their live showcase and excellent turntable skills.

To make it all that bit more special, and to fit in with the theme of the occasion, Hexstatic will be providing a visual accompaniment to The Nextmen's set! Awesome. Throw into the mix the fruits of our quest into the world of AV to find some of the hottest new talent in the field, and the result is an evening that will blow KOKO's bass-bins and your minds with a kaleidescopic mix of sounds and sights.

DEAD KIDS AT CLUB NME

We love Dead Kids, they make us go 'ooooooooh I say', in fact we think there might just be a parallel universe where Dead Kids win X Factor and hence the whole world of pop is saved. Come see if we have lost the plot or not when Dead Kids return to KOKO for the official launch party for their single 'Snakes'.

Talking of launch parties, what an amazing launch night this was for what we hope will be regular series of Annie Mac presents nights. Little Boots proved any doubters that this years electro pop crown is hers by what we used to refer to as a country mile. Keep em peeled for line up news and early bird ticket offers for the next one on Sat 10th Oct..

ORPHANS AND VANDALS

Don't let this be a secret any longer. Orphan and Vandals debut album out now, and don't just take our word for it,
"one of the most interesting bands I've ever had the fortune to see… one of the most remarkable and spellbinding debut albums to have ever been released… has to be heard to be believed… Orphans And Vandals have created a simply incredible and bewitching album that reeks of originality, romance and heartbreak, that'll literally take your breath away." rbfanzine.co.uk
