In a break from the standard, soulless pat-their-own back display from the Hop Hop and R & B community which the Grammy’s always invariably descends into, there was some reason to rejoice at the 52nd Grammy Awards show in LA last week as French indie outfit Phoenix won an award for best ‘Alternative Music Album’.
While accepting the award singer Thomas Mars thanked his famous film-director girlfriend Sofia Coppola, as the band won their first Grammy for their fifth studio album ‘Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix’.
Phoenix were up against the likes of Death Cab for Cutie with ‘Open The Door’ and the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s critically acclaimed ’It’s Blitz’.
