Ian Brown Joins Oasis Debate
Date: 14 September 2009

As I commented previously on KOKO Asia about Kele from Bloc Party giving his two cents on the recent Oasis split, it seems now legendary Stone Roses frontman Ian Brown has also waded into the debate by urging each of the warring brothers to go solo.
"What's a shame is that they're brothers," he told NME. "From being 10 and six scrapping on the carpet in the front room, now they are doing it in public and worldwide - I think that's a bit of a shame for them. Life's hard enough without scrapping with your brother when you're a grown man."
Ian’s concern seems to not so much be placed on the future of the band, but the public, family spat that has caused the break up. But Ian, who has enjoyed much solo success himself and is due to release his next album appropriately entitled ‘My Way’ thinks the brothers can benefit from following in his lonely footsteps.
"I would say go solo," he added. "I can heartily recommend it. It's a fine way to be."
Ian is no fan of band reformations himself and has also ruled out that he would “never, ever reform the Stone Roses, not even if I were busking”.
Although everyman and his dog is talking about the recent split of one of Britain’s brightest, his opinion does carry some more weight as Oasis have revealed many times that The Stones Roses were one of their inspirations.
"I always loved Oasis because when they came out, they did express that they loved us and they saw that we did it and they thought they could do it too," he told the Press Association.
"We're lads like they are, and that inspired them. That means a lot to me."
