After recently announcing that the Radiohead creative process is becoming more arduous, Thom Yorke is going back down the solo route with his second solo single to be released later this month.
Next week he releases his cover of Mark Mulcahy’s ‘All For The Best’, but he has also announced a double A side 12” vinyl release of two new original compositions entitled ‘Apart By Horses’ and ‘The Hollow Earth’ which will hit stores in the US on 22nd September.
Being released via the TBD Records label the 12” release will be in limited supply, with the US and UK distributing 4,000 each and only 300 for the rest of Europe.
Thom has also been busy penning the title track to the forthcoming documentary “The Age Of Stupid”. The film is a drama-documentary-animation hybrid which stars Pete Postlethwaite as an old man living in the devastated world of 2055, watching archive footage from 2008 and asking: why didn't we stop climate change when we had the chance?
The film will be released internationally on September 21st and 22nd at the "Global Premiere". Thom will be performing the title track live from a solar-powered cinema tent in New York which will be linked by satellite to 442 cinemas across America and to more than 200 cinemas in more than 35 other countries.
In the meantime, Thom has turned to comedian Adam Buxton to reel off a list of potential names for any future solo endeavours. After playing a solo set at Latitude Festival earlier this summer, Thom was propositioned with names ranging from Thombola to Thomosexual. Classic.
